Out in 2018, Black Panther received praise from the critics for its direction, screenplay, acting, production, soundtrack, costume design and cultural significance. It was considered as the best MCU film. This movie was supported by blacks communities all over the world being one of the only film centering its plot around an ethnicity not always centered in Hollywood pieces. In addition to starring incredibly strong independent female characters, the movie premiered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on April 18 2018, making the first public screening where men and women sat together after the Saudi Arabia government relaxed enforcement of laws banning co-mingling between unrelated men and women.
After the events of Captain America: Civil War and the death of his father, Prince T’Challa returns to his secluded, full of resources, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take on his duties as King. One of them being honouring the power of the Black Panther. After working with Okoye, leader of the all-female fighting force, the Dora Milaje, to extract his ex-lover Nakia from an undercover assignment, T’Challa reunites with his mother and sister, ready to be crowned. However, he is unexpectedly challenged for the throne and the power of the Black Panther from factions within his country. More so, T’Challa faces Klaue, a dangerous arms-dealer who partnered with Erik Killmonger, an unknown cousin of T’Challa, keen on being the future King of Wakanda. T’Challa is then presumed dead, and Killmonger takes on the throne of Wakanda. However, T’Challa returns and after a long battle and many betrayals among both armies, T’Challa finally becomes King. He, then, decides to reveal Wakanda’s existence to the world in front of the United Nations.
